Edwina's class will continue to meet under the same structure and format as it had in the past.  However, covering for her will be Tony Visco.

Drawing is a key to successful artwork. This instructor focuses on giving each student individual attention in order to improve drawing skills and guide the completion of the artwork in charcoal, pencil, and or oil/acrylic/watercolor paint. Students choose their own subject matter as they work from still life, photos of their choice, or portrait. Bring materials that suit your medium.
  

ART CLASS SUPPLY INFORMATION 

This is a general supply list and students are not required to to include everything. Only what they think they will need.

OIL PAINTING – Professional grade oil paints will not fade in sunlight for years to come, and the colors will be more intense. Student grade oil paints are less expensive, however may fade in sunlight after a few years, and the colors will not look as rich.

Professional grade oil paints:  Grumbacher, and Rembrandt.

Student grade oil paints: Academy, and Winton.

Paints:  Titanium white, Yellow ochre, Cadmium yellow light, Cadmium orange, Rose madder, Crimson red, Cadmium red light, Burnt sienna, Raw umber, Viridian green, Sap green, Green earth, Ultramarine blue, Cobalt blue, Cerulean blue, Ivory black, Dioxazine purple

Brushes:  All brushes should have long handles.

Flat bristle brush sizes: 10, 11, 12 – (Large) and 5,6,7,8 – (Medium)

Round synthetic brush sizes:  1, 2 – (Small)

Other Supplies

17”-20” Canvas or Canvas board, Odorless turpenoid, Liquin light gel, Refined linseed oil, Covered jar (empty salsa jar), 1 -2 rags (t-shirt material), Pencil, Photo or picture to work from

PASTELS - They usually come in a set.

Hard pastels, use Nu-Pastels.

Soft pastels, use Rembrandt.

3 values of each chosen color, any sanded pastel paper (Colourfix eg.), Large drawing board, Photo or picture to work from

DRAWING - Graphite Pencils, HB, 3B, 6B, Kneaded eraser, Sketch paper (Biggie Jumbo eg.), Medium sized 17” paper for finished work, Bristol Vellum paper for finished work, Large drawing board, Photo or picture to work from, Charcoal, Large drawing board, Canson white paper, Compressed black and white charcoal, Vine charcoal (soft, medium, and hard), Charcoal pencils, Kneaded eraser, Photo or picture to work from

WATERCOLOR – Watercolor paint is translucent, meaning it is slightly see through. This is the nature of watercolors. Gouache is an opaque, watercolor type paint, meaning it is not see through. You may use, gouache if you like, this section of the supply list applies to either, watercolor or gouache.

Brand of Paint – Any name brand tube, or cake style watercolor paints, such as Windsor & Newton, or Cotman.
