Poetry - Exploring the Modern Sonnet

Date: Every Thursday between May 10 and May 17 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
Number of Classes:
Excerpt from Shakespeare’s
Sonnet 18
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
How come poets no longer write sonnets like this?
Because, let’s face it–nobody talks like this anymore!
In this workshop, we will explore how we can write a more modern sonnet while still incorporating some traditional sonnet craft elements.
Please  note:  This is a two-day workshop that runs from 1-5pm on May 10 & 17.
