About the ArtistI first became involved with photography while in college at the University of California in Berkeley. My interest and love of photography paralleled my architectural education. During my last years as a student there, I worked as the staff photographer for the Architecture Department in the College of Environmental Design.
I was a California resident for most of my life [so far]. For many years I specialized in and taught underwater photography there. Although underwater photography was my passion, I also continued shooting above water, and both my above and below water images were included in juried membership shows at the Photographic Center of the Monterey Peninsula in Carmel.
Since relocating to the east coast in 2002, I have retired from the underwater photo world and have focused my photographic interests on “topside” photography. Locally my images have won honors in numerous juried arts festival photographic competitions, including simultaneous first place awards in Color and Black &White Photography at the North River Arts Festival, simultaneous first place Black & White and 2nd place Color at the South Shore Arts Center Festival in Cohasset and photographic best of show Color at the Quincy Arts Fest. They have been included in exhibits at the North River Arts Center, the South Shore Arts Center and the Duxbury Art Center.
In her book, "A Natural History of the Senses", poet Diane Ackerman wrote, "Because the eye loves novelty and can get used to almost any scene.... much of life can drift into the vague background of our attention.... Art has a habit of waking us up, turning on the lights, grabbing us by the collar, and saying…Would you please pay attention?"

In my photography I strive to, "turn on the lights” .......... Sometimes it works.
