About the Artist: As a writer, I began at an early age to paint with words. As a calligrapher I fell in love with the letter form in its infinite variations. As an artist, I’ve traveled through the world of brushes: oils and watercolors. Then I discovered the magic of the press. As a monoprinter, I combine my love of words, their forms, their inspiration, and the images they produce, with the joy of color and design. This artistic discipline wooed me with its physicality, enticed me with its lack of boundaries and its limitless potential for interpretation. Often frustrating, frequently inspiring, occasionally satisfying, always challenging.

Monoprints not permanently settled with mat and frame, and those which are not slumbering on shelves labeled “Limbo” or “Revisit”, even peripheral pieces accidentally created in the flurry of printmaking, will often find themselves in my miniature artist’s books, limned with a (carefully edited) calligraphed quote or verse.

My calligraphy has appeared on outdoor billboards in the Boston area. Commissioned calligraphy, paintings, and monoprints are owned by churches and private collectors in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and Japan.

I inherited my artistic talent from my mother, an artist in her own right and my first and most ardent fan, who constantly nurtured both my art and my writing.
