KIDS & TEEN CLASSES Workshops & Vacation Week Fun (age 15 and under) Session VI July 12 Aug 27 Don’t delay! Deadline to register is one week prior to the first class of the session. "Plymouth Center for the Arts: Not Just Your Parents Art Gallery" (all children’s classes include materials) Thank you Victoria Wyeth! Funds from talks by Victoria Wyeth about her famous relatives, Andrew and Jamie that took place at the Center in April will be used to help defray the cost of children's classes at the Center! Every children's class and workshop at the Center has been discounted by 20% for this session! We look forward to seeing lots of happy young artists this summer! MONDAY 7/12-8/16 (6 classes) Arty Afternoons at the Center with Paula Turley (ages 7-12) Bring your imagination and dress for mess. #6115 M 3:00-4:30 pm $80m/$90nm Less 20% $64m/$72nm (Includes ALL of the following) Build a 3D castle on a cotton cloud in the sky. Paint a textured landscape using a variety of mixed media. Build a sandcastle out of sand dough and decorate with shells and stones. Create a unique picture frame for your favorite artwork. Create a rock necklace with a beach stone and wire. Design your own “stain glass” sun catcher. This will enable you to work on shading the object as well. Drawing Bodies and Faces with Terry Kole (ages 9-18) #6120B M 10:45am-12:15pm $80m/ $90nm Less 20% $64m/$72nm We'll learn to draw your favorite cartoons in this class by imitating the Masters of Cartooning. We'll check out the favorites of the kids in the class, cartoons like: Charlie Brown, Sponge Bob, Batman, the Simpsons. You choose the characters. Terry will teach you how to draw them. They will learn to create works that explore a wide range of techniques in this versatile medium, preserving the “fingerprint” of this magical age. Students will start with some fairy folklore and design "take home projects". The second half of the class will be creating homes for these imaginary characters outside. These mini environments will be built on location using only natural materials. Dress appropriately. Inform if child has nut or bee allergies. Limit 5 students Young Artist Club: Drawing and Painting (ages 6-12) with Doro Simone #6810B M, T, W, Th Aug. 2-5 (4 two-hour classes) 10am-noon $80m/ $90nm Less 20% $64m/$72nm Inspired by a wide variety of artist's work, students will explore different subjects and styles as they develop their own skills. Art projects include chalk pastel still life, fine line optical illusions, and personal interpretations in acrylic paint on canvas. Dress to Paint. Fishing boats, docks, fishermen, gulls, tourists…if it's there and you find it interesting, you can draw it! Bring your camera if you have one. Other supplies will be provided. Whether you'd like to draw and paint an interesting historic building, a street lamp, a tourist, a skate boarder at the Skate Park or a coffee shop…come join us as we create an interesting look at Plymouth!
