Introduction to Pastels with John Nutter

New and continuing students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and pastel painting through demonstrations and group critiques. Using still-life and photographs as references, students will create paintings that emphasize form, structure, color, value and perspective. Limit 8 students.

Beginning/Intermediate Watercolor with Mary Callahan

Designed for all levels of the watercolorist.  This course will provide the fundamentals and then explore the many techniques of watercolor.  Work from still life set ups, photos, or your imagination.  Emphasis will be on creating an organized emotional statement.  Limit 10 students

Beginning to Intermediate Drawing & Painting Instruction with Edwina Caci

Drawing is a key to successful artwork. This instructor focuses on giving each student individual attention in order to improve drawing skills and guide the completion of the artwork in charcoal, pencil, and or oil/acrylic/watercolor paint.  Students choose their own subject matter as they work from still life, photos of their choice, or portrait. Bring materials that suit your medium. Limit: 10 students

Introduction to Silversmithing: Beginner Sterling Silver Jewelry
with Mary-Lou Montagna

Beginners will learn basic bench skills for silversmithing while working in sterling silver wire. Techniques will include sawing, filing, sanding, piercing, forging, planishing, buffing, etc.  Projects will include a band ring, a forged ring, a pendant, a pair of earrings depending on students’ interests.

Abstract Expressionism with Sarah Bates Washburn

Students learn to “step outside of the box” by exploring a variety of painting techniques in order to create successful, well balanced pieces of abstract art. Limit 8 students.

Stoneware Designs #1 with Nancy Loftus

Explore the possibilities of stoneware to create functional and decorative pieces. Students will learn hand building using slab and coil, and experience throwing on the potter’s wheel. We will use stamps, treasures from nature, and more to inspire designs for home and yard. A variety of glaze and underglaze techniques will add color to each project.

Advanced Pastel Classes with John Nutter

Learn the use of textured paper stocks like Kitty Wallis paper, colourfix paper and watercolor paper to enhance your pastel paintings. We’ll explore the application of rubbing alcohol, gessoes and grounds. We’ll combine a base of watercolor, acrylics or thinned-out oils before we add our pastel layer. Let fun and imagination be your tools.

Ceramics A-Z (wheel-throwing optional) with Julie Papageorge

Beginners to advanced students will enjoy this exciting studio class that allows opportunity to explore clay process, object making, glazing and surface decoration. Limit: 7 students

Oil Painting with Dianne Panarelli Miller

Beginning to advanced students will benefit from this “alla prima” (all-in-one-sitting) class. Subsequent to exercises and demonstrations about color, composition and technique, students will paint outdoors or from still life, using a full color palette.

Bring your favorite art materials.  We will work on concept, color, textural relationships and technique development as you combine processes and art materials in different ways to produce exciting results.  Limit 10 students

Oil/Acrylic Painting with Doro Simone

Students choose to work from oils or acrylics in this course designed for all experience levels. Learn the basics of painting or challenge yourself and bring skills to the next level. Individual attention is emphasized. Limit 10 students.

Basic Watercolor with Lilly Cleveland (ages 16+)

Creating Unique Landscapes in Watercolor with Becky Haletky

This class is for beginning to intermediate students with an emphasis on color, light and composition.  Class will paint on location in several ocean, pond and garden locations, weather permitting.  Learn to interpret in your own style with lots of one-on-one encouragement.  Limit 10 students.

Creative Writing with Sarah Moon

This course for beginning to advanced writers will take you from the idea phase to finished draft. Through free writes, paired feedback and discussion, you’ll get to explore your story, share ideas and get valuable insight from classmates and instructor. Taking inspiration from accomplished writers, you’ll unlock your own creative juices and see what’s hiding inside. As you develop your piece, you’ll learn how to bring greater detail, focus and purpose to the work to produce something you’ll be proud to share with an audience.

Experimenting with Your Unique Style with Elizabeth Geissler

Spend the day painting with special attention to individual process and intention. Bring your favorite tools and experiment with methods including collage and mono-printing.  Come with an idea for a painting and let us see where it takes us.  Limit 8 students


Introduction to Adobe Photoshop  (age 15+) with Chris Frezza

This class teaches the basics of Adobe Photoshop:  the tools and how they work, understanding the layout, and maybe a couple of cool tricks if time is available. Bring your laptop with Adobe Photoshop installed.  Photoshop Elements will not have some of the same capabilities as Adobe Photoshop.

Painting Plymouth - Plein Air! with Donna Rossetti-Bailey
One-Day Pastel Painting Workshop (some pastel experience required)

Join us for a day of outdoor painting in beautiful Plymouth as we work on location at Jenny Grist Mill, Town Brook, the waterfront, downtown, or one of the historical sites.  There will be a short demonstration and plenty of one-on-one time at your easel along with a group critique.  Bring your sketchbook, camera and outdoor setup, including the surface you like to work on. Plan to do at least two paintings and have a lunch break. Supply list is available at the Guild website.  If it is raining or below 55 degrees, we will meet at the Art Center of the Arts and paint from photos of Plymouth.  Hope for good weather!

Beaded Collage Cuff Bracelet with Irina Kitaeva + $20 kit optional (see below)

A stunning cuff bracelet is fun to make and wear. In this class you will learn how to incorporate seed beads, collage and found objects in one fun project. The base of the cuff is a bendable metal base with ultra suede backing.
Buy a $20 kit: You choose color palette & bring just a bead mat and scissors.
Or you may purchase all the supplies on your own: #8 and #11 beads in selection of colors; Czech glass beads in selection of colors and different shapes; found objects; glass pebbles; beading mat, scissors, beading needles, and Nymo thread in coordinating color.

Beaded Face Pendant with Irina Kitaeva  + $20 kit optional (see below)

Make a beautiful pendant/pin with clay face and coral beading technique around it. Learn different techniques to create your own pendant face mold, working with polymer clay and beading stitches. Other variations will be taught on the pendant and chain.
Buy a kit for $20 (you choose two coordinating colors) and bring just a bead mat and scissors. Or you may purchase all the supplies on your own: 2 coordinating colors of 11 size beads (around 20 mg main color and around 10mg secondary color), white polymer clay, beading mat, scissors, beading needles, and Nymo thread in coordinating color

Pastel Workshop  with Christine Bodnar

This one-day workshop is designed for the intermediate pastel painter who loves painting the landscape and wants their work to stand-out with a personal style and to develop a better understanding of design
and composition within the painting space. Students will learn to approach the space with a stronger sense of composition with the use of line and color producing a more interesting painting. Pictorial composition, value relationships, visual perception, and dealing with one’s own intuition as a painter will be emphasized.  A short demonstration will begin the class showing students how the instructor approaches her own work.

Hand Printed Silk Screen Design for T’s and Posters with Vicky Tomayko
Two-Day Workshop

This introductory class to silk screen technique will teach you how to create designs then print them multiple times on T shirts or posters.  Supplies include Speedball original printing kit and other basic printing supplies.  See supply list.  Limit 8 students
